Caught in the act

A photo from the latest Shelton Muller Portrait Workshop (I go along to assist my good friend and mentor).

Wedding Workshop - Abbotsford Convent

Saturday saw me and Shelton back together again for one of his amazing workshops, this time based on weddings.

I love assiting on these as not only do I get to help and teach others, but I always pickup a few things myself. I also take any opportunity to grab some photos myself. I like how I am not under any pressure and can grab some nice shots.

It’s always very gratifying to see the improvement from the start to the end of the day and the happy faces that thank the staff at the end of the day. Camera Action puts on a great workshop and everyone loves it.

We had Elise act as our bride and she played the part well (as you can see below).

Tim

I’d like to introduce Tim, my assistant/second shooter.

If you add the second shooter to your wedding package (and everybody should as the return vastly outweighs the expense) you will get to meet this person.

He joined me on his first wedding shoot last Friday and fell straight into the routine. He has taken some fantastic photos (of which I will show once the couple have seen them) and made a great assistant. He worked his backside off and was spoken very highly of by the Bride and Groom.

Welcome aboard Tim. I look forward to working with you.

Even I scrub up OK.

I was featured in a blog post by Melbourne Photographer Shelton Muller over on his blog.

Working with Shelton Muller

A couple of weeks ago I had the honour to accompany Shelton Muller on a wedding shoot. I expected to be carrying bags and changing lenses but I was very surprised to find myself being told to shoot away at any opportunity.

I also got to watch as he created off camera flash magic, right in the camera.

I will upload an image or two shortly.

I am shooting with him again tomorrow and have been made responsible for the grooms preparation photographs whilst he takes the brides prep photos.
